I love these bags, very traditional with a twist - a modern day classic. I hate computer bags - they’re so ugly, so why would I want to put my lovely little lap top in just anything? Oh to have a Violet May python clutch for my laptop! I thought I’d grow tired of silver but it’s just so shiny I can’t help but want it.
I’m loving this white bag too, I know I’d use it even if I wasn’t carrying my laptop in it. There’s just something nice, very grown up about a white handbag. In a way it’s a bit old lady - retro perhaps is a catchier phrase. I hate when I want something and fashion gets the better of me!
This is what I love about London: men with style. It’s a hot summer’s day and I spotted Dai Rees and MA course director Darren Cabon at The London College of Fashion! I think they both look amazing, quite handsome and I love the bags!!!
Puma launched The Reality Bag a while back in January 2008. I’m quite partial to PUMA bags, and I have a black one that I love but it’s started to look a bit tattered, so I don’t use it but I can’t get rid of it. I saw The Reality Bag at the Puma shop on Carnaby Street today - ooh a big silver bag! The Reality Bag is by PUMA® Urban Mobility and the Serpentine Gallery. Multiple artists: John Armleder, John Trembley & Philippe Decreuza created the bag. I like the concept of the Urban Mobility collection & there’s even a bicycle and luggage.
I do feel like I walk around with my whole life in my handbag and somehow it becomes quite simplified although the bigger the bag the more I carry. For example I usually wear flat shoes because I’m running errands or going to meetings, if I have a bigger bag I might add some heels - just in case…and maybe another lipstick or gloss…The reverse is also true, if I have a small bag, I carry maybe one piece of ID, some cash - usually not in a wallet or purse as it takes up too much space, mobile, house keys & lip gloss.
I do love & identify with the name, Urban Mobility. I want to live in urban settings and I want to be mobile and I like shiny things :)
It’s quite flattering when you see your work on designer’s site! Beatrix Ong is a lovely shoe designer. She studied at Central St. Martins, The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and Cordwainers College in London. If you think that’s impressive, she then went on to design for Jimmy Choo and has now been designing her own collection for almost 8 years. Sometimes you might think that a shoes is just a shoe - but a beautiful shoe is never just a shoe! We never really think about all the development and research that goes into shoe making. Recently it’s become a revived art form. There’s even a shoe museum in Toronto. So next time you try on a shoe think about art, fashion and function, and just how pretty they look on your feet!
I had an interview this afternoon for Jincey Lumpkin - fashion lawyer and blogger. I met with her UK interviewer Simone Baret Innamorati in Selfridge’s for coffee. And of course after the interview we had to go and look at all the fabulous bags!
I love this bag, I could fit so much stuff into it!!
The silver bag on the top shelf left hand side is surprisingly soft!
Simone and I both hate fakes - now these bags are so fake and can’t be mistaken for anything but fake. I just find it so weird that the fakes are located right outside of Selfridges, and right inside, just wall between them, are all the luxury designer bags. It’s cruel in so many ways…
If you’re looking for a pre-loved authentic Chanel 2.55 bag French Touch is the place to find one. Samantha Thayi is the owner and she’s collected so many delightful little bags, scarves and accessories!

Louis Vuitton won their lawsuit regarding the Britney Spears’ 2005 video for “Do Something” for the use of Louis Vuitton’s “Cherry Blossoms” design on the dashboard of the Hummer in the video. Britney Spears herself wasn’t found guilty, but Sony BMG and MTV Online were ordered to stop broadcasting the video, and were fined 80,000 euros (USD$117,000).
First of all, let me just say it again: counterfeits and fakes are just wrong. A big question for fashion and prop stylists is what can and can’t you use in a video or advertising? If Britney was carrying an authentic Louis Vuitton bag in a video would that be ok? It’s all about marketing and product placement.
I went to see the Balenciaga Spring 2008 preview at Browns. It’s so fun to drink champagne and eat rose petal flavour macaroons from La Durée. Who says fashion isn’t a nice life - well actually nobody does! Anyway fashion is great, of course it’s greater if you have more money, but don’t we say that money can’t buy style? But honestly, with the team at Browns, it doesn’t matter if you have no style at all, you just have to have enough money and you’ll come out looking so good - just ask for Marcio. It used to really bother me when I was a teenager that some people could just go out and buy style, but now it doesn’t bother me at all. I like that anything can be bought or taught, and on a certain level I believe that style can be taught.
So how does this collection work? Well the colour palette is divided between North America and Europe. At the preview Browns only has the samples belonging to this side of the ocean. However if you like a garment in a print that sells in North America, at this particular moment in time you can order it and you can have any combination that you’d like. Not all these looks will be sold in Browns: many of the looks will sell out before they ever even hit the shop floor!
I love these shorts and this little jacket!!

Sunglasses can change an outfit in an instant and they’re not just for the summer months. Whenever I go on a trip I tend to buy a pair of sunglasses - it’s part of my Heathrow routine and I’m very thrown off when I have to depart from Gatwick. At first I didn’t really like wearing sunglasses: I felt like I was hiding something but now I wear a pair of Burberry Quilted Check sunglasses almost every day. I never leave the house without them. It’s not so much vanity or even fashion, I just don’t like the sun in my eyes.
I was never really a girl who liked gold or silver things but girls in the UK are just a bit more sparkly than in Toronto, so it’s beginning to rub off on me. I was at a Mulberry event and saw this great big gold handbag. I could fit so many things in it…I could also pay several months’ rent instead. As you already know I’d never ever wear anything fake, but that’s another story…
Right afterwards I saw a girl in the train station with a big gold bag. Hm, maybe some silver shoes…
