Anita’s Vintage Fashion Fair

Posted by Rebekah on July 19th, 2008

I love going to vintage fashion fairs. Many of the vendor have been collection and selling items for over 20 years so if you’re looking for something special just ask them. They might not have brought it with them but most of the vendors have hundreds of items stashed away!

I got two fabulous dresses for £10 each!

The key to looking through vintage is to really take your time. I look for fabrics that I like - I don’t really worry about the shape or cut as I know if I like the fabric I can remake the dress. Occasionally I’ll find a dress that fits perfectly!

Fashion Shoot in Spitalfields

If you’ve very hungry or in need of a good English breakfast the S&M cafe (Sausage and Mash cafe) is a great place to eat. This is also a good place for a photo shoot. I’ve shot here a couple of times but you have to start early in the morning and finish before noon as it starts to get busy from the lunch rush!

Sometimes you might only be doing one shot, so all you need is one look, but you still need to bring a good selection to chose from. We had about 35+ dresses!

Spitafields & The Sunday Up Market

Posted by Rebekah on March 31st, 2008

Spitafields Market - there have been so many changes & renovations here I wasn’t sure how much I was going to like it, I was afraid that it wouldn’t have the same charm. It did - just more polished. In the few years I’ve been in London I’ve noticed lots of things change. It will be interesting to see what happens to Camden market, it’s already changed so much. I just wonder about all the vendor - where will they all go?

Spitafield was great, there were so many things that were inspiring and I just like being out and about. The sun was shining, no rain and lots of people just hanging around looking fashionable. I also went to the Sunday Up market which has a cooler feel to it. I’m sure the stalls cost less… I saw a cool jeweller but he didn’t want me to take a picture of his stand. Lots of designers are afraid of people coming to steal their designs and I’m sure it happens.
