Summer Music!
Posted by Rebekah on June 29th, 2008
I’ve been tagged by The Fashion Assistant to reveal my seven spring songs. I’m not sure about seven spring songs besides it’s summer - and I’m not the kind of girl who lies around on the beach and dreams the day away. Anyway this is what I’ve been listening to:
Blondie - Sunday Girl
The Subways - Rock and Roll Queen
Santogold - Swtich and Graeme Remix
Lady Sovereign - Love me or Hate Me
White Lies - Death
The Kills - Love is a Deserter
Juliette and The Licks Are You Happy
No Picasso Monet Demo
I’m asking several other bloggers to list their top seven spring songs or just song that they like, I’m tagging:
The Covented, Michelle at My Fashion Life, Final Fashion, Queen Marie at Kingdom of Style, Auntie Fashion and The Cupcake Diary.

The Subways at Koko
Posted by Rebekah on June 13th, 2008

This was a great show!! I always love seeing bands that I’ve worked with.

The Subways are known for their live performances and they don’t disappoint. They have so much energy and look like they’re having so much fun and of course the audience is totally captivated. Billy dived into the crowds during Turnaround and he also jumps of one of the balconies into his very loyal audience - you really have to believe in your fans to do that!! Oh Yeah was great and they played their new hit song Strawberry Blonde.

The Subways
Posted by Rebekah on June 10th, 2008
The Subways: Josh Morgan - Drums, Billy Lunn - Guitar & Vocals, Charlotte Cooper - Bass & Vocals are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. They’re all really good friends, they love what they do and they’re just fun to hang out with! Their debut album, Young For Eternity, was released on 4 July 2005 in the UK and February 14, 2006 in the US. Their second album, All Or Nothing, will be released on June 30, 2008!!

Strawberry Blonde is a song from their new album! Check out their schedule, they’re playing at KOKO in Camden this week!!

Charlotte is super cute & tiny - she’ll look fab in anything! She loves labels like Sass & Bide, PPQ, Jasmine de Milo, Christian Louboutin, Irregular Choice and Vans! How cool is she!

Ben Sherman
Posted by Rebekah on May 30th, 2008

Ben Sherman and PPQ have collaborated on a new limited collection of dresses. There are only 175 dresses available in each look. There are 5 dresses and each one represents the look of the decade. PPQ has always been involved in the music scene and they even have their own record label 1-2-3-4. And of course Ben Sherman is known for supporting loads of bands.

I love the shop windows on Carnaby Street!

Alice Disney remix by Nick Bertke aka Pogo
Posted by Rebekah on May 26th, 2008
Love this! It’s a remix by 19 year old Nick Bertke (a.k.a Pogo, Pogotron). The track is almost entirely made up of sounds sampled from Disney’s 1951 animated classic, Alice in Wonderland and the track is available free to download on his Last FM page!
Remixing is a lot like fashion styling - looking at things from the past and seeing them in a new way!

Stonefoxx at the O2 Arena
Posted by Rebekah on May 22nd, 2008
Stonefoxx performed at the O2 Arena - they’re the opening act for Shane Ward’s UK tour! Of course I’m biased because I’ve known them for a couple of years and I just want everyone to dance around listening to them on the radio!

Stacy, Lizzy and Gem!

We watched Shane Ward from a private box - and his fans were totally crazy over him!

The Tuesdai Leigh Experience
Posted by Rebekah on April 20th, 2008

One of the things I like about Tuesdai Leigh is that she can’t be bothered to be pretentious. She just loves to sing and she’s a natural performer.

I went to see Tuesdai Leigh perform and she’s the real thing. She has a huge voice and she sounds like a gospel/soul singer. Her influences range from Etta James and Aretha Franklin to Tracy Chapman and Nirvana. She lives on a tough North London estate and had no resources to make any kind of demo so she took things into her own hands, started making acappella recordings on her home Karaoke machine and sending them out. Fortunately, songwriter Jules Kleiser heard her recording and they started working together. This is just the beginning of The Tuesdai Leigh Experience, so I’m looking forward to her next show. Tuesdai Leigh is playing on the Friday May 9th at The Miller.

Lily Allen goes Blond
Posted by Rebekah on April 19th, 2008

I was a bit shocked to see Lily Allen as a blond but the more I look at her, the more I like it.
I have never been a blond and with my olive skin tones I don’t think it’s for me. I’ve had all sorts of colours in my hair. When I was at university every time I dyed some fabric I’d stick my head in the vat, it was mainly pink and orange. I tried to dye it navy blue once but the colour didn’t really stay in. Recently I had a friend who bought some hair dye from Boots and she didn’t do the 48 hour dye test - how many of us really do? Anyway she had an allergic reaction to the hair dye - her whole face was completely swollen! It took a couple of weeks for all the swelling to go down. So either do the test or go to the pros!

I love this picture of Lily with the Chanel sunglasses. These glasses are fab, they are the Chanel round retro style frames with the quilted temples, style 5120.
Dying your hair is great fun and it changes how you look completely. Did you ever wonder why most make over programmes wait until the last moment to show the hair and make up? I’ve always felt that hair is your biggest accessory: a good cut is essential and colouring your hair creates an instant change - a brand new look!

Stonefoxx at the Embassy Club
Posted by Rebekah on April 18th, 2008

Stonefoxx performed last night at Embassy Club in Mayfair.

Who is Stonefoxx? They are a relatively new pop band. I met them about two years ago when they first started working together: Gem Allen, Stacy Burton and Lizzy Williams. They are super fun, cool and hard working. I adore them! They are managed by James Merritt (also very cute) of Kiss 100 and they’ve worked with some very talented people such as Richard Stannard, Shaznay Lewis, Stuart Crichton Georgie Denis & Remmee. For a new band they’re doing quite well; they won the BT Broadband Search for Talent 2007, and the Songpeople Award for top new act!

Me, Stacy, Gem, Lizzy and their choreographer, Nikki Trow! Nikki has worked with Blue & Kylie Minogue.

Me with Sam Hosker the make up artist and Alex Foden hair stylist extraordinaire!

Audio Sushi at Sketch
Posted by Rebekah on April 6th, 2008

Sketch is a very popular club & restaurant. You might have seen the club used for fashion shoots and lots of fashionable, trendy people hang out there. I think I like it better in the day, lunch is very nice and you can go in the afternoon for tea & cake!

If you don’t have time to download your own music or you want someone to customize the music for your own party Audio Sushi will do it for you! I find this service quite amazing - it’s very niche!

Fashion Shoot in an East London Studio
Posted by Rebekah on April 4th, 2008

We had a great shoot day. We did lots of prep for this shoot; we went to PRs and designers and found lots of fabulous dresses!!! It was an easy, happy shoot day - lots of shoots are - everyone wants to get as much out of the shoot as possible and to do a really good job. It’s great to work with people who really love and care about what they are doing - it makes a difference. The hair and make-up were great, this was really important because it brings everything to life. Alex Foden, (also Amy Winehouse’s hair stylist) did the hair, he not only styled it but did the cut & colour - how fab is he, and Samantha Hosker did the make-up!

Blood Red Shoes - You Bring Me Down
Posted by Rebekah on February 29th, 2008
You Bring Me Down by Blood Red Shoes
Blood Red Shoes is the super cool duo Steven Ansell and Laura-Mary Carter from Brighton. They’ve been together about 2 years, done over 200 live shows and 6 singles and really all they ever wanted was just to be in a band. Love them!
See them April 20th in London at Kings College.

More Fabulous Females at London Fashion Week
Posted by Rebekah on February 12th, 2008
One of the things that I love most about Fashion Week is seeing loads of fashionable people. This is London fashion at it’s best - there are so many amazing women all with their own unique style. Of course I love going to the shows, the music, the energy, the models - the shows are great but so is the audience! The other day someone interviewed me and asked me about inspiration - well there is so much of it at LFW!

Sophie Ellis Bextor & her sister in the VIP lounge at the PPQ show. Sophie is as genuine as she is beautiful - a rare talent!
Jaime Cooke, director of Muks at the PPQ after show party. Love her hat!
The super cute Echo Morgan, merchandiser & visual artist.

Nana Aganovich at her stand at London Fashion Week Exhibition, I can’t wait to see their show!

The truly lovely Diane Pernet, I’m really a fan of Diane’s site, A Shaded View on Fashion, but it’s not just her site I love, it’s Diane’s style - it’s truly her own, it works, it’s her and I love her attention to detail!

Marie Proctor and Charlene Campbell of Annazbell. I went to a gathering at the Funky Buddha to celebrate the relaunch of Annazbell; I think it’s really hard to start an good e-zine but Annazbell has a head start and lots of experience as they originally launch in 2004.

The Feeling at Porchester Hall in London!
Posted by Rebekah on January 25th, 2008

Last night The Feeling played at the Porchester Hall. It’s beautiful location: it has an old world opulence of days gone by, with dark red velvet curtains, lots of English oak and walnut, and ten huge crystal chandeliers hang from the ceiling. It’s quite an impressive building and it’s the type of place one would expect The Feeling to play! Of course Dan look magnificent in his white ruffle shirt - it suited the place perfectly!

The images that I took are during sound check and after the show. During the show I’m too busy enjoying the music and dancing around then to take picture, so if you’d like to see more images check out Front Rows, Pits and Pavements’!
